Closing Day Crab Feast

Mary & I attended the first Closing Day of the 2010 Boating Season at NPBC.  This time of year is always saddening as it means boating season is getting very close to ending.  However, on this day, it wasn’t a dark or dim light sky – it was a beautiful sunny day with bright blue skies.   The atmosphere was filled with good vibes, and good tunes.  People everywhere were smiling and having a great time.  Crowds inside gathered to eat in the Air Conditioned clubhouse or hang by the bar.  Others took to the sunshine outside, and sat at tables under tents and listened to some FANTASTIC music by the live band that performed 70’s Rock & Roll and Blues.  I know you are thinking …. WOW, that sounds great!  But you know what made this day even better - the crabs were not only CLEANED, but cooked and seasoned PERFECT!!  Mary & I are not clam lovers – but we saw many who were.  Over 3000 of these seashell living, mucus looking, slimy edibles were served.  Funny how people all have their own way of preparing these sea creatures before slurpin’ em down; me, I ‘d rather slurp a nice cold cocktail down and munch on something that has been introduced to the grill or heat of some sort.  LOL

Bottom line here …. Mary & I could only stay a few hours as we had to head up to Bordentown YC for the Queens Reception – but we totally enjoyed every minute we spent with the fine members of NPBC and the visiting clubs that attended as well.

Below are some pictures of the event.
